1/2 marathon PR Moab, 1:37, beat this at 08' St George with a neg split at 1:31ish, Pr'd officially at 09' Moab 1/2, 1:33:13, even though I ran faster the 2nd half of St. George marathon, i assume I count this one! which tells me 2 things, 2nd half of St. George is a really fast course, and I am very surprised I could do that on the 2nd half of a marathon, must of been the good rainy cold weather!! Under 1:30 in 09' is still the goal!

5 great, chilly miles on the North Arm Trail in Eden, I think I was inspired by the pics of the Oly Trials and so I headed out with shorts and ooohhhh it was chilly probably around 20-23 degrees, but once I got rolling it felt great, had to do some thawing out when i got back inside...I love that it is light in the morning and it is easy to wake up and get moving!!
I also went and did my patriotic duty and VOTED!!!
did a pm Pilates 1hr.session at Propulsion Pilates in Liberty, it was a great workout!
|
| | 8 good miles on the East bench of Ogden! started at Rainbow Gardens and went to Strong canyon up to the upper trail and back, 64 min. | |
| | Did a 45 min spin class in the afternoon and then a quick 35 min. run on the bench, did the Strong canyon loop from 29th st. rolled my ankle on a hidden rock under the leaves, it is a bit tender today, but nothing too bad! |
| | Rested the ankle, it was a bit sore from rolling it yesterday! Did a 1 hr Pilates session, fantastic workout, good "get ready" for ski season workout(If we get some SNOW, I know you hard core runners don't want it!, but still PRAY for it, we need the H2O!) Went with Nicholas! tomorrow hoping to do a speed workout at BL track! | |
| |
1.5 mile tester run on the ankle felt fine! 50 min. spin class, great workout ave. around 163 Heart rate, also had a late night soccer game! |
| |
Did the Rainbow Gardens to Strong Canyon loop, w/ Nicholas, good run pushed it pretty hard on the way back 7.25miles 63:55time. Ended the day with a late night soccer game! |
| | Mtn. Bike ride: Rainbow Gardens to Beus Canyon and back on the bench, Good ride! 62min. | |
| | Went on a good somewhat muddy run with Nicholas and my dog Oakley, on the N. arm trail! I was feeling the legs from a good week of consistent workouts! going to St. George next week for the 1st part of the week hoping to get some running in down there! |
| | run/hike in snow canyon to the White Rock ampitheater, cool small white sand dune, went with Kelli and we ran most the way back! |
| | Green Valley gap mtn bike loop run, fun run, up then down, nice morning, good sunny weather! | |
| | 6+ miles with Nick on the N. Arm trail, didn't break any records but it was a nice chilly run! Looking forward to chowing down on some good food later today! |
| | early morning Pilates class, great post-thanksgiving burn! Then at noon went and fit in a spin class at Gold's! | |
| |
Went out for an early 6ish miles on the N. Arm, felt good, then in the afternoon did Skyline on my mtn bike, it was a great ride i was a bit over dressed at first but as soon as the sun went down it dropped atleast 20 degrees, it was chilly coming down, my computer wasn't working but the ride is around 18 miles and i did it in 2:22! |
| | Afternoon Spin class at Gold's, good workout we had a new gal leading and she was tough! 45 min. |
| |
I took a day off yesterday due to busy schedule and I was feeling a bit drained...not sure why, I got a touch of food poisoning or flu Saturday night and I think it was lingering... anyway got back on track today and felt great... started off with an early morning Pilates Session, great workout... then at lunch went for a Spin Class 45 min. and followed that with a 25 min TM run
1st mile- 7:50
2nd mile- 6:40
3rd mile- 7:45
Realized I have some work to do on the speed area... it was a struggle to keep a 6:40 pace, my heart rate was at 170 the entire mile!
| | Good bench run with Nick, Went from Rainbows on upper trail to Strong Canyon and then down and back along the flats, it's the usual mtn. bike route, good gradual climb for the first half! |
| | was feeling a bit fatigued today but got over to Gold's for a lunchtime spin class to loosen up the legs, felt good didn't work crazily hard, also had a late night soccer game last night, that may have been reason for dragging a bit! |
| | 5 miles on the N. Arm about a mile in I had fresh tracks, I love running in freshly fallen snow! 43 min. |
| |
got a good spin class in at lunch and then went to the TM and knocked out 3 miles...
mile 1 = 7:55 : heart rate low 150's
mile 2 = 7:20: HR low 160's
mile 3 = 6:35 HR low 170's
felt better today than last week at the 6:35ish pace, i need to keep working on the speed!
| |
| |
Started the day out with a very good Pilates Session, then I got a lunchtime workout in at Golds, 45min. Spin Class and 25 min on the TM, short warm up and then did
1st mile: 7:50, 2nd mile: 7:40, 3rd mile 6:58, It was a good workout I think the last week of doing some treadmilling and working on speed has helped even though they have been short runs... this was my 3rd time and it already felt easier maintaining a faster pace!
So as Nick likes to say I got the Trifecta in today and should add one more tonight with a 9:20pm soccer game!
| | A good Trail run with Logan, Shane(soon to be blogger), and Nick we started at Rainbow and went the lower loop and then up Strong canyon, trail was a bit ugly, but still a great run! | |
| | Went to an afternoon spin class, good burn, pushed it pretty good! Thanks everyone for the snow prayers we are finally getting it and it is a wonderful sight, keep it coming!! soon the blogs will be, skied 8 runs today! |
| | Had a good unexpected long run this morning, couldn't sleep so I headed out at 6:30ish, the plan was to run up to the Pilates Studio and time it to get there around 7:30 when a session is finishing and either one, get a ride home with someone or two do a session and then come home... well my plan didn't work, NO lights on, No Pilates this morning, sooo i decided to run back home, total run was 13, felt good didn't break any records but it was good to get some longer miles in! also I love running on snow packed roads! Keep the SNOW coming! |
| | Got in a good lunchtime workout at Golds, 35min spin til my bike broke, then went and did 4.25 miles on the TM, 1st = 7:50, 2nd = 7:25, 3rd = 6:35, 4th = 6:30ish, on my last mile i went the first 1/3 at low 6, even went into upper 5's for a bit, got my HR up to 182, then tapered down from there! overall HR ave. was 158. It felt good i can tell the focus on speed is helping, thats what I like to see! |
| | I am guessing a bit at the mileage, 6.5, 58 minutes: but based off the canyon winds and the hills I think I was a bit slow! I dropped my truck off at Jack's Tires to get fixed and ran over to the Ogden Parkway and ran up it to Rainbow Gardens then up to the bench and along it for a bit and then dropped down back to where I had a car waiting for me! It was a good run other than the canyon wind along the pathway hitting me in the face, a bit chilly! | |

I had an interesting morning, I was due to go to Pilates at 6:45am, and I found myself lying in bed waiting for my alarm to go off... thinking wow I am wide awake and it is before 6am, little did I know until I checked my watch it was 6:50...my alarm must not have gone off... so i jumped out of bed and rushed to Pilates... I turned down the dirt, snow covered road and went to make the first turn in the road and the car kept going straight... into the snowbank... I was stuck and high centered... so I jumped out in my flip flops and grabbed the only available looking shovel (metal cereal bowl) and started diggin the tires out... it was freezing 8 degrees on the car thermometer...I was freezing may hands stuck to the bowl and I would dig for a bit and then get back in the car to warm up... I wasn't having much luck digging out, go figure! Thankfully a guy with a shovel and a car load of high school kids came by and with some effort pushed me out! I got to Pilates hoping there would be a 7:45 session, no luck! Sooo I did a quick 20 min. and called it good and said i'd be back tomorrow!
I did get to the Gym and got a good Spin class in at lunch... also have a soccer game tonight which will end up making for a good day!
| |
Very good Pilates Session this morning I will be feeling it tomorrow, felt fatigued and lazy the rest of the day so I took it off from any other exercise! Plus I went to a couple Title company Christmas lunches and ate bad!
| | after a bit of a lazy day yesterday, I got after it today at the gym, 1 hard hr. on the spin bike and then 4 good miles on the TM... 1st mile = 7:40, 2nd mile = 7:13, 3rd mile = 6:40, 4th mile = 7:40... it was a good biathalon training workout! If I were real motivated I'd start with a good swim and then do the other stuff to complete the TRI training! The good news is I hit my goal for weight loss, throughout the year I have had 4 weigh in dates... I started around 173-175 and my year end or Dec. 15th which is Sunday goal was to be under 160, I weighed in today at Golds at 159! so I need to maintain it for a few days, but i will! going for a good run tomorrow! | |
| |
Nick and I hit the road this morning for 6 good, cold miles! I may have to break out the home TM today to get 4 more for the week!
| | Went to Golds for a lunchtime workout! It was a good one 45 min. Spin, and a 4+miles TM run! 1st mile = 7:40, 2nd mile = 6:58, 3rd mile = 6:30, 4th mile = 7:30, It was good to get 2 miles under the 7 min pace, even though 2nd mile was only 2 sec. under! I am noticing maintaining a 7:30ish is feeling much easier! | |
| | A great Spin class at the gym this afternoon 1 hr on the bike! Still waiting for the SNOW! | |
| |
Good early morning Pilates Session, great leg workout on the jump board and then ended with some killer ab work! Also it was a great morning, cause we woke up to a good dumping of snow about 7-8 inches in Eden! i am weakening in my hold out of getting a seasons pass!!
got to the gym and did a good workout, started with 3 miles on TM 1st mile = 7:45, 2nd mile = 7:30, 3rd mile = 7:30: Then I hit a Spin class for 45 min, good burn on the bike, and then came out for 2 more mile at 7:35 1st and 7:10 2nd. It felt good to switch it up a bit, I get bored doing TM for to long!
| | lunchtime workout at the gym, did a good Spin class the instructor had the HR monitors going up on the TV screen, sooo that is always added motivation to push harder when your HR is showing in front of the class! i was consistently in 150's hit 160's for a bit and topped out at 174. From there I went and jumped on TM and did 3 miles, 1st = 7:40, 2nd = 6:40, 3rd = 7:09, overall was a good workout, felt fatigued on the TM! |
| | didn't get any running miles in today but i got some joy miles in on the ski slopes...incredible day up at Snowbasin, ski'd from 9-1:30 and was beat by then, good deep powder in most places, they still need a few more feet to cover all the rocks and shrubs, but i am not complaining it was still excellent! | |
| | Haven't got a run in yet... but spent a great day on the slopes with the boys, they tore up the slopes for the first time this year, and i got one run in on my own. hope to get a moonlight run in tonight... well forgot about a Christmas get together we had so that nixed my run plans...but I did come home and get on the Spin bike and rode for 50 good min. while watching the 3rd Pirates movie! |
| |
I went to early morning Pilates, no one showed, so i came home! I got to the gym for lunch, did 2 miles on TM warm-up 1st = 8:05, 2nd = 7:35: Then went and did a Spin class, good workout, then came back and did 2 more miles, 1st = 7:15, 2nd = 6:58: It was good to get going again, I took 3 days off over the break and felt good and fresh today!
| | got a good late night soccer game in! Thats about it for the day! |
| | Got up early and jumped on the spin bike at the house, and rode for 45 min, got a good sweat going in the cold basement, and finally finished watching Pirates 3! Hoping to get out and either get a few runs in at basin or go skate skiing! |
| | Got a good early morning Pilates session in! and then spent the day snowblowing and shoveling out from a major storm in the Eden!! also took a couple hours to go sledding with the kids, and dragged my 3 year in the sled to get to the sledding area, good workout! Monday should be a great day of skiing, can't wait!! |
| |
Went skiing at the Basin... unbelievable day! very deep powder, they opened No Name and we were the first ones out there, besides the ski patrol! don't know how the ski vs. run compares...but i was absolutely beat by 1:30 and dripping sweat and then the temperature dropped and I was freezing! So we finished up with one run on the cushy Gandola and called it a day!
Just remembered what I did a year ago today that fits the blog, I have a goal each year to run a marathon, in Dec. 05 I had ACL surgery so I was rehabing the knee for the first half of the year and didn't get a marathon in... so on Dec. 31st at 5am and a whopping 5 degrees I headed out for my yearly marathon... It was cold and not very fast but i finished and did the last 3 miles on the treadmill!!! I did Ogden this year so i didn't have to continue this tradition this year thank goodness! |
